To make a reservation, simply select your desired boat from the fleet and choose your preferred rental option. For boats we own and operate, simply complete the required fields, submit payment, and we'll see you on the water.

Yes, we do own some of our owns boats and you can book those directly from our website. We staff our own captains (you can choose your own licensed Captain from our directory as well) and crew, and are responsible for your entire experience from beginning to end. That's what makes booking with us so special!

We always try to fix any issues ourselves in order to provide the best customer satisfaction possible. If you have a complaint about something with one of our affiliate partners, we will first try to fix this issue ourselves, and then we can help you get in direct contact with the partner cruise company.

We try to never cancel your cruise, as our boats can operate in the rain and wind. There are occasions where the United States Coast Guard shuts down all maritime traffic and we have no choice but to cancel. In this instance, we give a full refund or option to reschedule at no cost. We do not allow the customers to cancel within 2 days of departure, or because of anticipated weather, as we have to staff captains, deckhands etc, cleaners, bar staff etc, in advance.

Statistically, we've only had to cancel roughly 1% of cruises.

We can't offer swimming on our Boston cruises because the inner harbor is a restricted area and legally it would be considered a "man overboard" which is a serious offense that comes with a substantial fine.

If a guest does jump off a boat, the Coast Guard is immediately called and the cruise is cancelled with no refund. We also would most likely get shut down. Thankfully, never have we had a single guess violate these rules!

This depends largely on the weather, tides, maritime traffic and the captain. Boats do not leave the inner harbor for safety concerns (large ferries at speed in open ocean can easily capsize smaller vessels). We have a standard route around the harbor that allows you to see nearly all of Boston from the water.

Many people do not realize bridges, the Charles River, safe passage to the Encore Casino etc, can be impossible at certain times, especially during high tide, or with taller boats with an antenna array. We only staff experienced captains that know the Harbor well and are training personally by the owner to try and honor as many client requests as possible. When they say 'no', it is always for your safety of you, the crew, and surrounding boats.

The answer to this is generally no, for a few reasons:

-Docks around Boston are mostly commercial and you need to have prepaid seasonal access to use them

-Private docks are obviously not ours to use

-When we do try to honor these requests it usually creates more people that get asked to get dropped off closer to their houses, and this gets unfair quickly to those who can't be accommodated.

-In order to make it back to our home dock in time for the next cruise, it means cutting the cruise short to make a drop off. This often upsets the person paying for the cruise

-Certain docks are unsafe to dock in if waves hit broadside on the vessel. Our home marinas are shielded more than public city docks

-Most people on a cruise are unaware when a vessel docks somewhere else than where it disembarked, and sometimes creates a panic of everyone saying "oh we're getting off here" and before you know it, everyone is trying to get off. This is very unsafe.

-Some docks require lines to be tied off to cleats on different areas of the boat, or public docks themselves have no cleats where needed, and it can't be guaranteed we can tie off there at all

With that said, if you do wish to disembark your entire cruise at a different location, please clear this far in advance and let the captain know. It is inevitably his decision due to safety. Depending on where your pickup or dropoff is, we have to reduce your cruise by the time it takes us to get back to our home dock for the next cruise.

The short answer: some are and some aren't, and it depends on MA state law.

Generally, our affiliate partners are commercial vessels, therefore can't be BYOB, and require liquor licenses as per MA state and Alcohol Beverage Commission law. There is a bar onboard where you can purchase drinks. (As a trade off, USCG commercially inspected vessel tend to have a higher passenger count maximum)

Boats owned by Lux Cruises are non-commercial vessels and therefore can be BYOB, and operate under "bareback" charter rules. (The trade-off is that the passenger maximum for non-commercial vessels is always 12.

A commercial vessel is inspected by USCG every year, is issued a max passenger count (depending on seating/safety/life jackets), and can not do BYOB. ​ A non-commercial vessel is privately owned, is not inspected by the USCG for capacity and is therefore always capped at 12 passengers regardless of the size of the vessel, is BYOB (aka is not forced to get a liquor license), and the guest can choose their own licensed captain from a list we provide.
